The Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA) is the voice of Singapore’s semiconductor industry. The semiconductor industry is one of the leading sectors in Singapore, employing approximately 42,000 people with a manufacturing output of about S$49.5 billion. The Singapore semiconductor industry contributes 13.5% to the worldwide semiconductor industry revenue. SSIA is committed to support this important sector to facilitate substantial growth and contribution to the economy.
SSIA started in 2005 under the name “MIDAS”, and has been operating with an extended charter under the new name “SSIA” since 2010. The association aims to be the platform which facilitates interactions, partnerships and development amongst industry players, government agencies, research and academia.
To date, SSIA has more than 50 corporate members from all across the semiconductor ecosystem.
These include companies and organisations throughout all parts of the complex and comprehensive value chain, including chip design companies, manufacturers, fabless companies, equipment suppliers, photovoltaic and LED companies, EDA and material suppliers, training and service providers, IP companies, research institutes and academia, as well as individual members.
As a non-profit organisation, SSIA is led by an elected executive committee which sets the organisation’s general direction, decides matters of overall policy and reviews SSIA activities. Their executive committee includes representations from the most prestigious companies in the semiconductor industry and includes both large and small companies.
SSIA activities include CEO leadership events, regular member meetings, the Annual General Meetings and SSIA Summits where industry leaders gather, network, explore synergies and exchange opinions.
SSIA engages intensively in reaching out to the young talents through outreach activities with tertiary educational institutes. SSIA also organises and promotes a variety of technical and non-technical workshops and seminars to upgrade the technical knowledge and skillsets of our professionals.
As part of our charter to support business growth, SSIA organises business missions to lead companies to participate in international industry trade fairs such as the US-based Consumer Electronics Show (CES) and Computex in Taiwan to help companies increase the product visibility and create new business opportunities. SSIA also introduces new initiatives to facilitate the exchange of best practices and expertise between young start-ups and well established companies.
